SHORT DESCRIPTION
Located in the remotest corner of the most pristine and wildest country in the world, Tavan Bogd trek or Trekking in Altai mountains Mongolia 9 days offers a rich cultural experience and brings you through green meadows, icy gorges, clear lakes, rushing streams, lush alpine pastures, snow capped peaks, vast glaciers and vast moraines. The area is inhabited by Mongolian nomads and Tuvans and Kazakh hunters whose ways of life have not changed since times unmemorable. Kazakhs have ancient traditions of falconry. The trek will start off Tavan Bogd mountain range. Huiten peak, the highest peak of the Altai range is also Mongolia’s highest peak. The peak overlooks 3 countries: Mongolia, Russia and China. Those mountain peaks face cold glaciated peaks and vast moraines. Depending of your climbing skills we you will climb one or the other peak.

GUIDE
A Chinese, English or Russian speaking Mongolian guide will accompany the group at all times. The guide will be a native Mongolian person with great local knowledge who can deal with any requests and ensure that your holiday to become one of the most unforgettable experiences of your life.
TRANSPORT
This trip you have a two choice. First one is a highest level, latest model, air-conditioned private 4WD vehicles for the maximum comfort on your touring days. And second choice is Russian 4x4 Van. Also with 20 years’ experience drives.
MEALS
In Mongolia, you will be dining at fine American, European and Asian cuisine restaurants. Mutton, beef, rice and noodles form the basis of the Mongolian diet, so your meals will be based around this. However, the trail rations may include vegetables, eggs, peanut butter, cheese and sometimes yak! On some days there will be lunchboxes from our cook.
PERSONAL THINGS TO BRING WITH YOU
Warm thin layers of clothing are the best such as bring a rain jacket, gloves and hiking booth. Don’t forgot first aid kit (medicine for headache, cold, diarrhea, runny nose; bandages; any medicine prescribed for you). All your camera equipment.

Day 1 - Ulaanbaatar capital city of Mongolia

Pick you up our driver and guide from Chinggis Khan international airport. Drive to Your hotel. Visit local outdoor market /bazaar/, Gandan Monastery and Mongolia national museum. Evening Leisure day in Ulaanbaatar city. Over night at Hotel

Day 2 - Ulgii city, Bayan-Ulgii province

Arrive in Ulgii. Visit local outdoor market /bazaar., Islamic mosque and local museum. Prepare for excursion at your Hotel.

Day 3 - Ranger station of Oigyr, Altai Tavan Bogd mountain

Early morning we will start driving towards Tavan bogd mountain, Ranger station area. Where many Tuvan nomads spend their summer. Experience differences of nomadic lifestyle. On your way you will stop to see Balbal Stones and ancient Tomb.

Day 4 - Potanin glacier, Altai Tavan Bogd mountain

Early morning start hiking from Ranger station to 20KM long Potaniin glacier side. After 4 hours of riding you will reach the base camp. We just camping next to the glacier.

Day 5 - Ranger station of Tsagaan salaa, Altai Tavan Bogd mountain

From the Potanin glacier side start hiking back to the place where Tuvan Nomads are staying another Ranger station area. Have rest. Enjoy healthy meal of your cook. Overnight camping.

Day 6 - Khar Salaa, Altai Tavan Bogd national park

With packed camels you will start hiking to south of Altai Tavan Bogd national park. On your way you will go through historical places and see rock arts from ancient Turkic age. Camping at Khar Salaa.

Day 7 - Bear valley, Altai Tavan Bogd national park

Early morning you will start hiking up to Altai mountain and pass to Bear Valley which very beautiful place with breathtaking landscapes, waterfalls and white rivers that is flowing from glacier. Camp along the river.

Start hiking to Ak su Valley. Ak su Valley is place where many western Mongolian Kazakh nomads are staying during their summer time. Visit Kazakh families and experience nomadic life, enjoy photographing.

On this day we will pack up and start hiking to Khoton lake area at Altai Tavan Bogd national park. There we will meet our drivers and prepare to back Ulgii city.
