The self-contained watershed of Bayan-Ulgii, draining into the Great Lakes depression of Mongolia, hosts five fish species: Taimen, Lenok Trout, Osman, Grayling, and Pike. The Taimen, reaching over 30 kg (66 lbs), stands out as a prized catch globally. With Lenok Trout thriving in late spring and early summer, and graylings scattered across Northern Asia, the fishing season spans from July to September. Osmans, large carp unique to the Lake Uvs drainage area, add to the diverse fishing landscape. While fly fishing is excellent during the summer months, ice fishing takes center stage for those seeking larger catches.
